We have been several times always on point. The chicken is fried & seasoned very well. Mac & cheese is good. Hubby loves the beef stew. Great & friendly atmosphere. Tables were clean dining area is clean.
First visit. Moving to area and I wanted to find a small business to support. This place was just a few miles from my appointment so I stopped here. Looks like an old converted Hardee's. It was morning and I wanted breakfast. Small menu, not a lot to offer but their prices were excellent. I was dining in and got the bacon, egg and cheese biscuit combo. I was told they would bring it out to me and took my name. Another lady not the one who took my order called out my name without stepping in the dining room. She said, sorry we bagged it and handed me a bag. Didn't take the time to unbag it when she knew it was for here. It could have been a innocent mistake but it made me wonder if I was really welcome or not. Food was perfect as well as the price. I'll brush it off and give them another go.
Went through the drive through didn’t take long about average for fast food place but I will say I went earlier in the day passed back by later in the evening the line was out on the road. Food was great! I ordered the special for the day which was stew beef hubby ordered the pork chop plate he had no complaints. The only thing I could complain about was when I went they didn’t have banana pudding ready so I had to get cheesecake and unfortunately it wasn’t homemade but for store bought it was good! Will definitely be back again!
The food is usually very good, especially if you like the taste of "southern cooking". Traditional southern cooking often uses various types of pork (bacon, fat back - like bacon but with more lean meat - ham hocks, and bones+) to season veggies like collards. What I have discovered is that I must monitor the meat (like chicken livers) to make sure they are not overcooked heading to look almost burned.
Great fried chicken. My sister and I do take out and dine in Dine in might be better, really fresh hot fried chicken. I always get fried okra as a side, hot and crispy. The staff are very friendly and helpful. I recommend fried chicken, shrimp & flounder, chicken & pastry, stew beef & rice or barbecue sandwich with fries.
I like the grandson's franchise, it makes me sad that a lot of the buffets have closed up, but the meat and three restaurants are a really good and cheap for the amount of food they give you! It's definitely southern cuisine, take that for what it's worth. Everyone I've been in has been super clean, even the bathrooms. Highly recommend stopping by if you want a quick home-cooked meal that won't break the bank!
